A PhD position starting now or on agreement is available at the Institute for Theoretical Computer Science of ETH Zürich, Switzerland. Funding will be for two years, with option for a third year. The position includes participation in teaching.
The research project is concerned with the design and analysis of (randomized) combinatorial algorithms in geometric optimization, with emphasis on provable upper and lower time bounds, both for concrete and abstract problem classes.
The student will work together with a strong and active group, interested in a wide range of topics, including discrete and computational geometry, computational biology, game theory and discrete optimization.
Applicants should have a degree in Mathematics or in Computer Science, with a strong mathematical background.
